Advanced Laser Vision and Surgical Institute exists to provide a personalized and exceptional experience, utilizing the most innovative technology to ultimately transform our patients’ perspective on life by maximizing their vision through refractive surgery. We are currently seeking an ophthalmic technician who is charismatic, friendly, and self-motivated.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Excellent customer service skills towards patients, family members, and guests.
Must have a positive attitude and genuine interest in helping patients.
Working up patients accurately, and in a timely manner (Completing medical and ocular history, vision testing, lensometry, refraction, tonometry, pupil evaluation, EOM testing, Confrontation field testing, dilation).
Ability to assist doctor in the lane, including scribing.
Performing diagnostics (for medical exams, cataract surgery measurements, LASIK surgery measurements) utilizing equipment such as the Zeiss OCT, Visante ant seg OCT, Humphrey Visual Field, Endothelial cell count, Atlas and Magellan Topography, Zeiss IOL Master, A-scans, Lipiview, Lipiflow, and others.
Assisting surgeon in minor surgical procedures, as well as being willing to train as surgical tech. This includes assisting surgeon in intraocular surgical procedures such as cataract surgery, ICL implantation, and occasionally, anterior segment procedures such as blepharoplasty, pterygium excision with autograft, corneal perforation repair, to name a few.
Running the Intralase femtosecond Laser during LASIK, assisting in LASIK, PRK, PTK procedures as well as ability to run the VISX laser.
Patient triage, answering/returning phone messages, prescription re-fill requests as well as prior authorizations.
Ordering clinic supplies (with management approval) and keeping equipment maintained and functioning properly.
Learning new things quickly and ability to be flexible with change.
Experience with electronic health records is preferred.
This position requires working with the surgeon at associated medical practice as well as the laser center. It is highly preferred that candidate have some experience with assisting in intraocular and laser surgery, and maintain or acquire their COA certification. However, we are willing to train highly motivated and quick learners.
We strongly desire someone who has an interest in long term career advancement as there is room for added responsibilities, including but not limited to, surgery counseling and project management.
