Virginia Mason Medical Center is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible ophthalmologist to fill a full-time position in our Federal Way regional medical center.
The Federal Way location has one full time general ophthalmologist and an optometrist. The surgeon position has been staffed by a well-respected general ophthalmologist who is retiring after 29 years of service.
The ophthalmology section currently has a total of 8 ophthalmologists and 7 optometrists who work in our main downtown clinic and at 4 regional medical center locations. The section has retinal, corneal, glaucoma, pediatric/strabismus and oculo-plastic fellowship trained surgeons along with general ophthalmologists who practice in a collegial environment.
This is a unique opportunity to shape a team-based model general ophthalmology practice alongside a dynamic optometrist. It is also a balance of solo practice, group practice, and multispecialty practice. A chance to develop and expand a general practice with the ability to focus on special areas of interest

Nighttime on-call duties rotate every eighth week.

BE/BC in Ophthalmology
5 years experience preferred
Sub-specialty expertise will also be considered. Fellowship training not required.
Ideal candidate will be proficient in routine cataract surgery and enjoy practicing and growing a general ophthalmology service.
Ability to obtain a medical professional license in the State of WA
Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority needed for specific practice
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
