As part of the Aroostook Medical Center (TAMC) and member of the Eastern Maine Healthcare System (EMHS), our practice is committed to providing care for patients’ visual needs. With an expanded provider base of both ophthalmologists and optometrists, we are seeing more patients than ever as we provide a wide range of medical and surgical eye care services. Our providers, supported by an experienced healthcare team, care for patients with a variety of eye problems including cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, corneal disease, strabismus, wet and dry age-related macular degeneration, ectropion, entropion, oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy, ptosis, inflammatory eye disease (anterior and posterior segment), and diabetic eye disease in our main office in Presque Isle.
Procedures we perform include but are not limited to: phacoemulsification with intraocular lens including astigmatism and presbyopia correction intraocular lens, secondary intraocular lens implantation, intraocular lens exchange, suture fixation intraocular lens placement, laser capsulotomy, trabeculectomy, aqueous shunt surgery, laser trabeculoplasty, laser peripheral iridotomy, ectropion repair, entropion repair, laceration repair, lid ptosis repair, blepharoplasty, frontalis sling procedure, penetrating keratoplasty, enucleation, skin cancer excision and repair, repair of punctum malposition, nasolacrimal probing and irrigation, dacryocystorhinostomy, canalicular repair, laceration repair of conjunctiva and cornea, lesion removal, pterygium excision, conjunctivoplasty, intravitreal injections, retinal laser surgery for diabetes, retinal vein occlusion and retinal tears, adult strabismus surgery, and traumatic globe injury repair.
TAMC Eye Care Services is currently staffed with 2 full time ophthalmologists and 2 full time optometrists with the assistance of 13 clinical staff. The Aroostook Medical Center (TAMC) is a 160-bed hospital, with two main facilities. We have a long-term/skilled nursing facility and an 89-bed acute care hospital. The hospital also has many sites, off campus, to enhance the services offered. We directly employ providers in practices ranging from Primary Care, Emergency Medicine, Hospitalist Services, Pediatrics,... Presque Isle, Maine is the economic, cultural and medical hub for northern Maine. This is a lovely, safe, family oriented community where most people don’t bother to lock their houses or cars. We have branches of the University of Maine, Husson Business College and Maine Community College systems in town. The University has a new Athletic center that is full spectrum family fun, offering a wide variety of forms of exercise, including an indoor pool and climbing wall.
