The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) at the University of Louisville School of Medicine has an opening for a Pediatric Ophthalmologist at either the assistant or associate professorial rank. The DOVS is located on the campus of the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center and has offices in metropolitan Louisville and Western KY. Norton Childrens Hospital, University of Louisville Hospital, KentuckyOne Hospital and Norton Adult Hospital comprise the four major medical facilities on the medical center complex. DOVS faculty are members of the 800 member University of Louisville Physicians (http://www.uoflphysicians.com) the multi-specialty practice of the School of Medicine.
The Pediatric Division is strongly involved in all aspects of Pediatric Ophthalmology, including Ocular Cancer and Adult Strabismus. Norton Children’s Hospital (http://www.nortonhealthcare.com) is Kentucky's only free-standing, full-service pediatric care facility dedicated exclusively to caring for children. The 253-bed hospital, which also serves as the primary pediatric teaching facility for the University of Louisville School of Medicine, maintains an unwavering dedication to the children of the community and region. The hospital houses a dedicated ophthalmology OR suite with state of the art diagnostic and surgical equipment.
Applicants must have graduated from a fully-accredited ophthalmology residency, have training in an approved pediatric ophthalmology fellowship, be board certified/eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and be eligible for licensure in the state of Kentucky. The successful candidate will have clinical and educational responsibilities, and be expected to have a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching and research in an academic setting.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is composed of two components - a University of Louisville base salary with fringe benefits, and a University of Louisville Physicians clinical productivity salary that is incentive based with fringe benefits.
