The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services–Calgary Zone, and the University of Calgary, invite applications for the position of Pediatric Ophthalmologist at the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) in Calgary, Alberta. Qualifications include an MD, a fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Ophthalmology, or equivalent, and fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in Alberta.
The successful candidate will become a member of both the Section of Pediatric Surgery and the Section of Ophthalmology. The successful candidate must have demonstrated specific proficiency in all aspects of Pediatric Ophthalmology including, but not limited to, strabismus surgery and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). The candidate will be expected to participate in the screening program for ROP in the NICUs across the city and to participate in the ROP clinic at ACH. Committee duties and active participation in the Sections is required. The Pediatric Ophthalmologist will take call according to the site and Alberta Health Services policies.
The successful candidate will have previously demonstrated leadership skills in an academic environment and shown an interest in teaching and clinical research. The Pediatric Ophthalmologist will be expected to have a clinical appointment with the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, and to participate in medical student and resident teaching.
