The Department of Surgery at Nemours Children's Specialty Care is seeking a Division Chief to lead the community-based, pediatric Ophthalmology services. The Chief may have protected time for academic pursuits based on interests and will maintain a surgical practice.
Nemours Children's Specialty Care in Jacksonville, Florida, is currently seeking to add an ABMS board-certified/board-eligible Division Chief, Pediatric Ophthalmologist. Candidates seeking a unique opportunity to lead an already established practice in northeast Florida/southeast Georgia and the surrounding areas are encouraged to apply for this challenging career. The division of three pediatric ophthalmologists provides comprehensive surgical care to a large population base, and increasing surgical volume requires that Nemours should add additional ophthalmologists to help lead this team, which also includes two pediatric optometrists and one orthoptist. Nemours requires all of its ophthalmic technicians to have their COA certification at minimum.

Our division is a teaching site for the University of Florida for Ophthalmology Residents, and academic appointment is available. Current Board certification/eligibility by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Possess a valid Florida medical license.
Qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery and an appointment to the medial staff of the Wolfson Children's Hospital. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate's level of experience.
Nemours has a large clinical practice with 12 lanes and a satellite clinic in the adjacent Fleming Island area. There is an abundance of pathology in strabismus, lacrimal/eyelid system abnormalities, cataracts, glaucoma, ROP and neuro-ophthalmology. Routine eye exams and refractive errors are seen by the Nemours optometrists and orthoptist, allowing them to see a higher surgical volume. Nemours also has a comprehensive screening program for ROP that includes Wolfson Children's Hospital, University of Florida - Shands Hospital Jacksonville, and four additional area hospitals. In addition, Nemours is affiliated with the Mayo Clinic, which affords ophthalmologists the ability to examine and operate on adults with strabismus.
Inpatient care is delivered at Wolfson Children's Hospital, connected directly to our clinic. The 180-bed facility includes a new patient tower, a 20-bed PICU, a 12-bed CVICU and 48 Level 2 and 3 NICU beds with 24-hour critical care coverage. Nemours is a pediatric multispecialty group with over 100 medical and surgical physicians and psychologists on the Jacksonville campus. 24/7 in-house pediatric hospitalist coverage, 18 pediatric anesthesiologists and all pediatric surgical specialties are represented.
