The Department of Surgery, Ophthalmology Service, at VA Boston Health Care System (VABHS) is soliciting applications for the position of Ophthalmologist - Glaucoma (and Cataract) Specialist (Full Time).
VABHS is the major tertiary referral center for veterans from throughout New England and is strongly affiliated with Harvard Medical School (HMS) and Boston University (BU). Candidates should have an outstanding academic record and the ability to lead clinical, research and training programs. Fellowship training in glaucoma and proficiency in cataract and glaucoma surgery are mandatory.
Appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School or Boston University will be commensurate with experience, training and achievements, in addition to teaching activities. Suitable candidates must have an M.D. or an MD-PhD or equivalent degree from an accredited institution. Candidates must have completed an American Board of Ophthalmology approved residency training, or equivalent, and fellowship training in Glaucoma. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. Compensation will be competitive with the major academic centers in the region.
Responsibilities at the Boston VA include medical and surgical management of patients with glaucoma and cataracts, oversight of glaucoma consults from VA medical centers all over New England, and teaching of trainees from Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary and Boston University. The Boston VA is equipped with the latest glaucoma diagnostic and surgical tools. The candidate would be joining a dedicated group of comprehensive and subspecialty ophthalmologists who are on faculty either at Boston University or Harvard Medical School.
