We are seeking an Optometrist to:
• Join the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences in a dual capacity position providing quality care as an independent health care provider while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including general and specialty ophthalmologists. • Work as an Urgent Care Optometrist who provides same day urgent care services to patients of all ages and as a Pediatric Optometrist who provides comprehensive care to patients ages 4-17. • Provide quality care in a compassionate and patient-family centered environment. • Plan and create learning opportunities for technical staff and residents. • Educate patients and families on wellness, prevention and treatment plans.
Minimum – Doctor of Optometry (OD) Degree from an accredited Optometry School Preferred – Completion of a one year residency in post-optometry school study
Work Experience: Minimum – Five years of clinical experience Preferred – Two years of relevant clinical experience
Licenses and Certifications: Minimum – State of Wisconsin Optometry Licensure, CPR
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: • Strong contact lens skills to fit post-op aphakic infants and general pediatric fitting • Strong clinical skills in diagnosing strabismus, and binocular anomalies • Strong clinical skills in acute eye care • Extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, ocular pharmacology and management of acute and chronic
Physical Requirements: Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work Schedule: This is a full time, 40 hour per week position. The core hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm. Hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
