LASIK/SURGERY COORDINATOR FOR MULTI-SPECIALTY PRACTICE

Our organization is a multi-specialty Ophthalmology practice established in 1962 and continues to grow in the community. Tampa Eye Clinic prides itself on its commitment for personalized care of each and every patient. Our physicians provide a full range of eye medical and surgical services and the role of the Surgical/Lasik coordinator is to manage all aspects of pre and post-operative care to our patients.
Surgery/Lasik Coordinator Responsibilities and Duties
Handle all LASIK inquiries including but not limited to phone, internet and marketing activity.
Coordinating, scheduling evaluations and consultations for LASIK.
Becoming proficient in using practice management systems
Prepare surgical consent forms, medical consent release forms, organizing dates and times, obtain authorization or referrals needed for surgery. Verify all paperwork is returned and documented correctly before the surgery date. Obtain all billing information pertaining to co-pays, deductibles etc.
Coordinate all financing/payment processing and collection of payments for elective services (LASIK).
Communicate with the patient regarding all pre-op and post-op procedures in accordance to established procedures.
Call the patients to confirm dates, time and location of surgery.
This position requires a comprehensive understanding of an ophthalmic practice and insurance knowledge
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and Electronic Medical Records System
Strong attention to detail and being able to work independently as well as with a team of surgery coordinators.
Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with patients, physicians, co-workers and team supervisor is critical.
Foster teamwork and contribute to the organizational culture and values of the company.
Must be willing to help throughout the practice and be flexible to working in a team environment.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum 2 years of ophthalmic experience or comparable in the role of technician, coordinator and surgical counselor etc. High school or GED.
Ability to read, comprehend and write correspondences and present information effectively to patients or small groups.
Must have the knowledge of basic mathematical skills.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret situations effectively and efficiently.
Working knowledge of medical management software and windows based systems is a must.
High level of professionalism
Ability to multi-task
The position requires intervals of sitting, standing, walking, reaching, verbal communication and hearing
