The Gavin Herbert Eye Institute (GHEI) at the UC Irvine School of Medicine invites applicants for a full-time vision scientist faculty position as part of a cluster hire. This position will be at the Professor level in the Professor Series (Tenure).
Qualified candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in the field of Pathology. Interested candidates must have demonstrated capabilities for substantial research, excellent teaching, and professional service. The ideal candidate’s research would be focused primarily on the pathogenesis and prevention of Diabetic Retinopathy. Preference will be given to candidates with a well-established research program; strong international reputation; and a long track record of grantsmanship and scholarly peer publications.
The incumbent will be expected to perform research; support the institutional and departmental teaching and mentoring missions for graduate students, medical students, and postdoctoral scholars; and participate in university and public service.
Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
