Comprehensive Ophthalmology (Cornea, Glaucoma, or Medical Retina too)
Medicus Eye Group
August 5, 2018
Anderson, South Carolina
$250,000 plus bonus
Full Time - Entry Level
We are a very well established ophthalmology practice located in the upstate of South Carolina, looking for a new associate due to the recent retirement of one of our senior ophthalmologists. Established in 1928, we have been leaders in introducing many important advances in ophthalmology to our state. There are currently three general ophthalmologists and two optometrists in our group. We have a very efficient high-volume outpatient surgery center adjacent to our practice with state of the art equipment, including a Catalys laser for femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery. Although not part of our group, there are retina specialists on the premises every day and we work closely with them in the care of our patients. There is an optical shop as part of the practice.
Anderson is a medium-sized town with excellent schools and access to a wide range of recreational and shopping opportunities. The cost of living in Anderson is very attractive. Our medical community is anchored by a nationally-recognized hospital with nearly all medical specialties represented. One of our ophthalmologists and one of our optometrists currently live in nearby Greenville, South Carolina, as it is an easy commute and offers a somewhat larger city lifestyle. In 2017, Greenville was rated No. 29 on U.S. News and World Reports list of “Best Places to Live in America.” We have traditionally attracted patients from all over the upstate of South Carolina as well as northern Georgia, and we have a robust referral network of optometrists and MDs.
This position is expected to lead to ownership interest in the practice and also the surgery center, if desired.
We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible candidate, who has completed a residency in ophthalmology and is licensed or eligible for licensure in South Carolina. While we are currently a practice of general ophthalmologists, subspecialty training in glaucoma or cornea would also fit nicely with our needs.
Highly-competitive salary with productivity bonus would be based on level of training and experience. The position is available immediately, but we will also consider candidates completing residency or fellowship in 2019.
