Are you wishing for a more balanced life? Dreamed of living on a South Pacific Island? Looking to make a real difference? This is your opportunity to spend more time with your family, write that book, pursue other interests, or ease into retirement, while working in a global setting where you are truly needed, and where the patients are appreciative.
We are a state-of-the-art comprehensive eye care practice with highly trained support staff on a South Pacific island. We are looking for a replacement for our retiring ophthalmologist.
Our excellent medical OD takes care of most primary eye care, so your focus is on treating cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, pterygia, some routine cases, and other referrals. Surgery is performed at the community hospital, staffed by US-trained physicians.
The island is beautiful, and is a major tourist destination. Taxes are extremely low. Life is simple, crystal clear waters with great snorkeling and diving, beautiful golf courses, resort hotels, easy access to exotic travel to Asia. Great for children, couples, retirees, and anyone with a sense of adventure.
You must be: (1) A solid US-licensed comprehensive ophthalmologist; (2) An excellent phaco surgeon, able to deal with dense cataracts; (3) Well-versed in treatment of diabetic retinopathy with injections and lasers; (4) Warm and compassionate, able to humbly embrace an ethnically diverse poorer population; (5) Easy-going, friendly, and adaptable.
Schedule: 3.5 days per week, 4 weeks vacation and 1 week educational leave. There is the option to work full-time if interested.
Salary: Excellent salary comparable to well-paying position in US. Exceptional when taking into account the extremely low taxes.
We are willing to work with the right person to make the job and the terms attractive for you. This is a unique opportunity to work in a global setting, but in a modern facility, with a US income. We welcome your inquiries!
