We are a very busy surgical practice in Marietta, Ohio and Parkersburg, WV. We have been here since 1992 and see a very high volume of glaucoma patients. We are looking for a glaucoma-trained ophthalmologist to join our team of 3 comprehensive surgeons!
The position will be primarily glaucoma-based, in addition to what we anticipate will be a significant amount of cataract surgery cases. We would consider a Resident who is planning to continue their training with a glaucoma fellowship, a glaucoma Fellow that will be done with training between 2019 to 2021, or an established glaucoma specialist!
The Eye MDs have partnered with BSM Consulting to conduct the recruiting process.
State of the Art Facilities We are a very busy cataract surgery practice with many glaucoma patients. We stay very current with equipment and surgical skills and have a LenSX femtosecond laser, a YAG laser and an SLT laser. We do a significant amount of advanced technology lens surgery (toric IOLs and multifocals) and MIGS with iSents, and we own and operate our own ASC.
Immediate Patient Base There are no local, or even regional, glaucoma specialists. Currently our advanced glaucoma patients are sent to Columbus, Ohio (approximately 120 miles from here), for care. There are only a few glaucoma specialists in the entire state of WV, so we believe this will be a wonderful opportunity for glaucoma practice growth through referrals. We currently do more than 400 glaucoma laser procedures and over 4,000 glaucoma tests (visual fields and optic nerve imaging) per year, much of this volume would be made available for our new associate.
Collegial Work Environment Our greatest strength is the camaraderie of our doctors. We are good friends and support each other through thick and thin. Very few practices enjoy the supportive collegial relationship that we have developed. We are excited to bring a new doctor into our practice and we are enthusiastic about mentoring our new partner to: be an equal part of the team, develop world class surgical skills, and enjoy a world class income.
Work-Life Balance We also feel that vacation time is central to our success. The partners take 12 weeks of vacation a year. One partner uses that time to go hiking, skiing, and fishing in Wild Wonderful West Virginia. The second partner uses that time to play gigs with his rock band across the region, and the third partner travels with a backpack to South America, Southeast Asia, and Europe, and sails his sailboat in our local lake and charters in the Caribbean. We work hard and play hard!
Quality of Life Are you having second thoughts about leaving the big city? Our youngest partner moved to the area from the Upper East Side of Manhattan and would be happy to discuss the minor culture shock and MAJOR benefits of moving to the countryside. And if you need a taste of the city life, Columbus, Pittsburg, and Cleveland are an easy weekend getaway. You can become a world class surgeon, raise a family in a safe and friendly community, and make enough income to realize all of your dreams here!
