Well established solo general ophthalmology practice for 35 years seeking an associate. Comprehensive ophthalmology or glaucoma would be excellent. I have a modern 4200 sqft office building designed for 2 ophthalmologists. I also have an adjacent multispecialty ASC with one operating room. Our local 24 bed hospital is very supportive with recently refurbished OR for ophthalmology. I am about 50 miles from Boise, Idaho where all ophthalmic subspecialties are available (cornea, peds, retina, glaucoma, plastics).
Ontario, Oregon is located in eastern Oregon (high desert) along the Idaho border. We are at the N/S E/W crossroads of Hwy 95 and Interstate 84. Ontario’s cachement area of 80,000 population will support 2.5 FTE ophthalmologists. We are the western edge of the metro valley of 600,000 people. Since 1992, there have been 2 other ophthalmologists practicing in Ontario with me, but one has moved away and the other suffered serious health issues and has a restricted license to practice. This is a great opportunity for another practitioner to fill our needs and become successful in private practice. I have been in private practice for 35 years and am willing to mentor the new associate and assist with setting up their private practice. This is not a salaried position, but a fee for service practice opportunity, which far exceeds the potential of a salaried position. I am also willing to share my surgeries with the new associate to get them started.
Ontario is a small community of 11,000 population surrounded by other small towns. We are the economic hub of the Western Treasure Valley with 600 businesses. Our cost of living is a fraction of what it costs in metropolitan areas. I own a 3500 sqft home, 5BR, 3bath, 3 car garage, 2 real fireplaces, on a one acre lot which appraises for $260,000 (would be 4x that in California). I drive 6 blocks to work every day and put at least 3,000 miles per year on my car. There is NO sales tax in the State of Oregon which boosts your income by 6.5% compared to neighboring Idaho. Property taxes are limited by a 1994 referendum and have been stable at $14/thousand since 1994. We have a low crime rate and a safe town to live in. I grew up in New York, spent time in Baltimore and Buffalo, and sure appreciate the safety of our small town, and the ease of living without the traffic and congestion.
The Treasure Valley has 4 distinct seasons and offers unlimited outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, back packing, rafting, hiking, and skiing to mention a few. We have a local community college in Ontario and Boise State University is less than an hour away in Boise. My hobby has been aviation and I have enjoyed flying airplanes throughout the northwest my entire career.
This position is a great opportunity for the well motivated entrepreneur. Fee for service offers far greater opportunity than salary. I would support a buy in / partnership for the right person. I look forward to talking with you about this practice opportunity. My office contact number is 541-889-3106 9:00 to 5:00 M-F. My personal cell phone number is 208-741-0760.
