Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Ophthalmology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure clinician-educator track. Rank will be commensurate with experience. Expertise is required in the specific area of pediatric ophthalmology.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching pediatric ophthalmology fellows, ophthalmology and pediatric residents, and medical students.
Clinical responsibilities may include surgical activity at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and management of pediatric eye and vision problems in outpatient and inpatient setting, including strabismus and strabismus surgery, amblyopia, refractive abnormalities, consultations for other pediatric specialists, and other childhood eye and vision problems.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include involvement in independent or collaborative research in areas relevant to clinical and/or educational ophthalmology. Evidence of scholarship is required in the clinician-educator track.
Applicant must have a MD degree.
Expertise is required in clinical care, research and education in pediatric ophthalmology. Candidate must have completed an ophthalmology residency program, done a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship, and have substantial experience in pediatric ophthalmology. The successful candidate will be of renowned stature in the area of pediatric ophthalmology.
Must be licensed in Pennsylvania, and licensed or eligible for license in New Jersey; ABO-certified or eligible, AAPOS member or eligible.
The Clinician Educator will have protected time for academic and administrative pursuits. Prior leadership experience in a formal administrative role is preferred.
