After finishing my residency in PA I became involved in a practice in Reading, PA. I worked nearly a year there when I decided to return to FL. My daughter was only 2 years old and my wife’s family was all in FL. I came to Florida and started working for a corporate group doing very long hours with diminishing returns. I did not like the factory style of treating patients and did not care for endless hours to be followed by staff, accountants, attorneys, meetings, …. etc. So I decided to establish my own practice. A form of establishment in which I wouldn’t be just another cog in a multifaceted complex machine with only a single primary goal of highest possible profits for its shareholders.
In October of 2002 I established my practice. Pourkesali Enterprises LLC, DBA, Palm Coast Eye Physicians. I opened the doors with not a single patient. Being apprehensive is an understatement. I managed to work on the side and shuffle nearly all of my earnings to this newly founded establishment to prevent it from failure. I managed to start a new way of treating each patient by giving them my undivided attention and personal care from the moment they entered the office until they stepped out. I did it all from A to Z with minimal staff. It was a hard and long journey, but most rewarding, spiritually and financially. It flourished into a boutique type practice with no one dictating the terms how to manage it to me. It is a lot similar to bringing a child to this world, an infant, and taking care of it, feeding it, clothing it, making it grow and become successful. Just like any proud parent that gives rise to a successful child and makes them successful young adults. At the end the parent becomes old and lets their child, the successful young adult, leave home. The parents also need to move on and enter the new chapters of their own lives. This is exactly how I feel today. I only wish whoever takes over this practice appreciates its uniqueness and the years of hard work and endless sacrifice that has made this special practice to be what it is today. The degree of success is extremely high if he/she follows what I have established.
